After the Storm

“After the Storm”

Darkness is a blanket
spread across the sky,
the storms once here
now have finally passed.
There’s blackness all around
in the streets and in my room,
no flicker of a flame
no twinkle of the stars.
The sounds of night
are shouting,
in their silent
outside space.
The rain drops
from roof top eaves,
as the cat purrs
in quiet we sit alone.
